People ask what issues face the city which the City Council will need to deal with soon. One issue is use of the city’s American Rescue Plan Act money.
Last April, city staff informed that the city would receive $14.2 million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act funds. These funds can be used to respond to the pandemic’s negative economic impacts on the community.

Beginning last August the city sought input from the community. Last month survey results showed that replacing infrastructure (water, sewer, streets), especially water pipes to homes needing replacement, was a top priority, followed by parks. Broadly speaking, these are two spending categories that make sense.
If elected to the City Council, I look forward to reviewing these options in detail, with continuing public input, and I will vote on the most prudent use of the funds. The city needs to make decisions soon, because this federal law requires that the funds be used by December 21, 2024.
